Lauren Brooke New Corrective creme concealer review
On the green beauty market we all know that concealers are still a big challenge to formulate. When it comes to “fight”under eye dark circles with a natural concealer the choice is still limited. Since I like Lauren Brooke cosmetiques products, I once suggested her to do a peachy concealer that would neutralise/erase dark circles. And now this brand hew concealer is here in front of me for about 2 weeks! I’ve tested and use it and still wear it of course and yes, like it too!
Many women don’t know that severe dark circles cannot be covered just with a normal concealer. Why? Because we have to neutralise the dark color under eyes which is different from the skin tone. It may be blue, violet, grey,…And so different concealers are needed to cover this discoloration. What happens if you just put on the dark circles a normal concealer in your skin tone color? It will become a greyish skin tonality, because a light color cannot “delete” a dark one. This is why we have to neutralise it with an opposite color, according to the color theory.
Coming back to this new concealer from Lauren Brooke, I’d define it a shade of peachy/salmon that counteracts the bluish coloured circles on light to medium skin with neutral or cool tonalities. Of course one color is not for everyone, but this is a typical correcting shade for many women with skin tonalities mentioned before.
It comes in a glass 7g jar which I find very nice. The texture is quite creamy which is good for the delicate under eye area. However, it might be a little too much, if used under the eyes where there are many fine lines. So I needed to set it with a little bit of translucent powder to avoid creasing, especially if wearing it with liquid foundation. But this is optional, depending on your skin type, lines under eyes and type of product you wear on top of it. All the beneficial oils are great and anti-ageing indeed but sometimes the product can be a little bit too creamy because of this. I can even wear it on its own just to correct dark circles if there is no time and so it works great just on naked skin with a touch of translucent powder on top.
Application: Right now I apply it with this new brush which is from an art store (as many others) which I adore because it’s soft and precise. When you apply the corrective concealer like this one, make sure you apply it only on the area needed where the dark color is and not around all the eyes. I apply the color gently with this brush by adding more if needed and then I tap around with my finger to blend together and massage the delicate area. And then after a moment I press a little bit of powder with a small soft brush, like the Real Techniques setting brush.
INCI: Capryllic/Capric Triglycerides, Zinc Oxide, Certified Organic Beeswax, Certified Organic Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Silica, Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Certified Organic Argania Spinsosa (Argan) Oil , Certified Organic Rosa Canina (Rosehip) Fruit Oil, Neem (Melia Azadirachta) Seed Oil, Natural Clay, Certified Organic Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Certified Organic Passiflora Incarnata Flower (Passionflower) Extract, Certified Organic Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Fruit Extract, Natural Vitamin E Oil (+/- Iron Oxides, Org Essential Oil Blend).
In conclusion, this concealer is a very good and fresh novelty on the green market. Since it does not contain any silicones or any other ingredients that’d dry or irritate the skin, the application has to be precise and “wise”. I mean to find your best way and amount to wear it.
