SO’BiO étic review of my favorite products

SO'BIO etic

Sometimes it’s really good when you run out of some products and you have to quickly find out a good alternative. It hasn’t really happened this to me with the products I will review, but I find them great especially as a substitute (and not only!) if you don’t have with you one of your favorite greenies or if you need a low price solution. Recently I saw that one of my favorite shops Ecco verde has launched a new collection of green products at very affordable prices. First, I wasn’t interested but then one product caught immediately my attention. I went to check the reviews and saw that many green bloggers rave for this brand. Well, I’m not the kind of customer who would be addicted to such a brand (and I don’t mean nothing bad with this), but I have found a few products that I’m really impressed with!

SO’BiO étic Aloe Vera Micellaire-Cleansing Lotion

SO'BiO étic

As you might already know, Bioderma (non-green brand) has one of the most popular (among make-up artists) micelle cleansing lotions, because of its light and watery consistency. Well, I wanted to see if there is a green alternative. It is! Actually, they are 2 from the brand SO’BiO étic! The other one was out of stock and is made from Calendula, suited for sensitive skin, that I want to try as well soon. First, let’s be clear, this brand hasn’t the most organic, super clean list with ingredients (it’s Eco-cert certified), which I don’t mind at all and nevertheless, I find it a great green alternative to conventional products! I like this product because it’s packed in a professional size of 500ml that you can carry around. Regarding its consistency it’s great because it’s like water and it removes your make-up easily and gently in a few steps. A few drops on a cotton pad and you are done! It has a particular smell, that I hardly describe but I got used to it. When I first tried this product on myself I was a little bit worried because my skin turned a little bit red (but without any itching), but fortunately the redness disappeared in a few moments and has never come back again. Maybe my skin that day was too sensitive or it was just adapting to this new product.  Although on the site is written that you don’t need to rinse with water the face after using this product (which is true), I feel better if I do it. Anyhow, I love this product!

SO’BiO étic BB Cream “Perfecteur de teint”

SO'BiO étic

No, I won’t rave for the ultimate BB/CC,…creams 😀  To be honest, I have heard about all sorts of these creams many years ago on beauty trend conferences and I also knew that asians adore(d) them. I like to see and try new products, but the industry sometimes is completely immersed mostly in marketing selling strategies. Leaving my comments apart, I wanted to try this product (and they have a few of them), just simply because I was curious about it and because I was searching a nice tinted moisturizer-light foundation at affordable price which many women often ask me. I tried the “normal” version which is SO’BiO étic BB Cream “Perfecteur de teint” in the light color n.1 (beige nude blister), which is great for light skins with warm tonalities. It also has a yellow tonality to counteract redness in general. The texture is at first touch not so light, but when you massage it into the skin, it disappears leaving a nice finish. On dry skin I highly recommend using a good moisturizer to achieve a dewy natural finish. I’m not saying that this BB cream is very dry, but for my taste, I wouldn’t use it on dry skin without any moisturizer. After applied I didn’t need any powder to set. I was quite surprised that it did covered some redness, but of course (which I didn’t even expected) it doesn’t cover severe dark circles or very red spots. But in general, it has a good coverage, if we consider its light texture. It comes in a 30ml plastic tube and the prices of all this brand are very affordable. Below I have attached the swatch on my hand and as you can see the texture blended on my hand has melted with skin and almost disappeared.

SO'BiO étic BB Cream

SO’BiO étic mascara False eyelash effect

So bio etic

is a very nice product as well! It has a curved wand as you can see on my picture below. It comes in a nice package with flowers and it’s black. I like it because it’s not too dry nor too wet and it gives the lashes a good boost. You can see the effect immediately. I cannot talk about curving effects, because I’m obsessed with eyelash curlers and so for me there is no mascara that would do a better job 🙂  When applied, this mascara does not clump and it does not leave that hard looking dry effect. It stays very well without smudging and it does not stick together the lashes which I personally like.

Who has already tried any SO’BiO étic products? Do you like them?

You find all these products at best prices in Ecco-verde international green online shop, one of my favourites!

Neve cosmetics flat perfection foundation review

Neve cosmetics

In this post I’m going to throw out of my green make-up bag a great novelty that I’d especially highlight for make-up artists use as well. For all of you who don’t know Neve cosmetics yet: this is a young Italian brand with vegan and mineral make-up and who has also created the amazing palettes with refill eyeshadows. A loud applause for Neve!

Neve cosmetics flat perfection foundation is a great novelty, that can be compared with Mac mineralize skinfinish natural for instance. But the better news is that this foundation is so much cleaner in ingredients than the previously mentioned one.

It comes in a nice package with a fresh and innovative design (the surface of the cover is somehow warped which reminds me of an almost natural stone). Inside the package there is a mirror and the powder is pressed which is a big hurraw! for make-up artists (=handy). This powder is meant to be used instead of any foundation and it gives a light to medium coverage with a nice natural satin finish. It does not look cakey at all which I really like! It’s simply great for those natural looks when the skin is already in good conditions and you need just a sweep of color to enhance the skin tone. It’s also a perfect solution for upcoming hot summer days when you don’t like to wear much make-up. Flat perfection foundation comes in 8 shades that you can check on my photo below.

Neve cosmetics Flat perfection foundation

The selection of colors is very good, they are not too yellow nor too rosy. They have designed just one color that is called Light Rose and it’s meant for light skin with a touch of  cool/blue undertones.

I’d just love a little bit more of product inside. In general, you can apply it with a flat or kabuki brush with circular motions on skin that you have prepared before with a good moisturizer adapted for your skin type. The foundation lasts depending on your skin type – on dry skin as mine is there are no problems, but on combination and oily skin touch-ups are needed after a few hours.

The only thing you might not like is the talc inside, but as I said the most applaudable fact is that there are brands out there who are working on innovation and where even professionals can choose the greener version of products for their make-up kits.

The product does not contain any parabens, silicones, parraffinum products and is suitable for vegans and vegetarians and is not tested on animals!

Among tons of other interesting products check also Neve cosmetics accessories like this handy plastic bag on the top picture where you can store your make-up and close with a zip.

How to: wear colored eye pencils

coloured eye pencils

I’d like to introduce you again a makeup product that has been a little bit out of focus lately, but it’s slowly coming back again: the eye pencil! I don’t mean just the classic black, brown or white pencils, but the colored ones! I want to show you some suggestions how to wear it in a fresh and sophisticated way and not look like you’ve come right from the 80’s 😀
I think colored pencils are great especially for those who don’t like using the classic eyeliner and are willing for a new twist in their makeup routine.
There are many techniques and tools how to achieve a look that will suit you best.

The first option is to use a normal eye pencil  in a selected color and draw a line on the upper lash line. You can also enhance the color of your eyes by wearing  just a colored line in the inner rim of the eye (see top picture). The best is to smudge the line (on the upper lash line) a little bit to achieve a nice colorful effect that pop out the color of your eyes. You can smudge it with a q-tip or with a smudging brush.

blue eye pencil

Green makeup tip Instead of using monochromatic colors (= blue pencil on blue eyes) use a color that will emphasize the color of your eyes and bring them out. You achieve this with using opposite colors. Use a deep blue on dark green eyes (I love this!), dark brown or grey eyes. For those with light blue or grey eyes, use turquoise in the inner rim to make your eyes sparkle! Try bronzed metallic shades on blue eyes as well. Olive-greens and silver-greys will suit great brown eyes as well. Purple and violet are fantastic on green eyes,…

Green makeup trick If you don’t have a colored pencil but would like to wear it anyway, check your eyeshadows and find that nice color you’d love to wear. Next use a thin eyeliner brush, dip it into water and mix it with the eyeshadow. Draw the line and voila! You have a colored line! For the waterproof effect use an eyeliner sealer instead of water.

Another technique for those who’d like to wear a colored line but are not able to draw it well:
Find a creamy eye pencil – those thicker ones – in the shade you like and draw with it a line around the eyes. Then smudge it around the eyes with a q-tip or a brush to achieve the desired smudged effect. Apply a few coats of mascara and your eyes will literally shine! This kind of pencils are great in metallic shades!

coloured eye pencil

Green makeup tip Before applying any pencil, powder first your eyelid so that the line won’t smudge on your upper eyelid.

Do you use any colored pencils? Which ones you like most? Are you afraid of using colors?

Living nature balancing night gel review

living nature cosmetics

About oily and combination skin type

Recently, I’ve dedicated my attention mostly to dry and dehydrated skin, but I haven’t forgotten about those who aren’t in this “category” and have in contrary, combination or oily skin.

If you still use conventional products for combination/oily skin, you will find out they are mostly based on alcohol and “synthetic plant extracts” which dehydrate the skin and consequently you end up in a vicious circle. However, this is not a long term solution. Even though the skin becomes temporarily mattified on the surface after using those products, we haven’t resolved the problem with dehydrating the skin with so harsh ingredients.

Although the skin is oily, it doesn’t mean that it has enough hydration.

This type of skin produces lots of oils, this is why it’s greasy, but it doesn’t produce enough water. Because of this imbalance between “water” and “oils”, the skin is imbalanced (and called combination). And so it needs to balance its natural moisture and oils and most of all start to regenerate itself.  If we start to take away the oils from the surface, we haven’t resolved the core problem, which is gaining balance through self-regeneration. We have to start understanding the fact that our body is a living system who can heal itself and thus we have to treat it gently, which is nowadays more rare than not.

The key is to use very light products with natural antibacterial properties and also with some hydrating ingredients to rebalance the skin again.

A few months ago I had the opportunity to try Living nature’s Balancing gel and now after a while I have to emphasize that is one of the best products for combination skin that I’ve encountered! I was really impressed about this gel. Although is a version for night and I don’t have combination skin, I have tried it on myself as well. (Yes, I’m to curious to try all beauty goodies 🙂 To get better results I’ve tested it also on some other women who have combination skin. The results were very satisfying! They told me the skin is soft, hydrated and silky, without being shiny. And my dry skin hasn’t suffer at all, even though this gel is not suitable for it, somehow it hasn’t felt unpleasant or drying.

This product is so gentle, that it won’t dehydrate the skin harshly with an artificial matte effect. Instead, it leaves the skin naturally soft and soothed. The best is to use it during the night, even though I found that is ok to use it even during the day, if needed. Its texture is like a liquid, non-sticky gel. It has a very light, liquid consistency and when applied to the skin, it disappears quickly in a very light layer of non-shiny moisture on the skin. This is the best way, I can describe it. I like that in the formulation are also included some natural antibacterial ingredients like: Manuka honey and ginger root extract. While the Harakeke Flax gel provides hydration to the skin. The gel is packed in a 50ml package.

Another observation: even though is a night gel, I was curious to try how it works under make-up, because it is so light in consistency. For combination skin it’s a very good make-up base, because it gives a layer of “protection” to the skin, without creating many heavy layers underneath the foundation.

Valentine’s inspired makeup looks

Spring is already awakening and Valentine’s day is in the air. Even though many feasts have become too much commercialized nowadays, they’re still nice to remember us to focus on beautiful, positive side of life. Everyone in its own way. Uniquely. Like the makeup looks I’ve selected for you. To inspire you, to awaken your creativity, to celebrate life and love. I have done my best to choose different looks for different women considering the fact that everyone is unique, has its own style, taste and personality. So take these looks as guidelines and experiment with them by adding your personal touch. Along with the looks, I’ll take the opportunity to review also 2 of my favorite products that I love to use recently: Inika liquid foundation and Lily Lolo lipsticks.

Audacious and passionate makeup look

This look is very minimalistic, but this doesn’t take off its importance. I recommend it for women with high contrast, like light or medium skin with dark eyes and hair, where a red lip can make a statement. Choose the appropriate shade of red depending on your skin undertone: red with cool or with warm undertones. For those who like a statement lip but don’t feel at ease to wear bright red, choose a neutral toned down red, like Lily Lolo’s French flirt, a warm mid-toned-red. Make sure your skin is flawless and radiant. Inika liquid foundation will work great because it will even the skin tone and give luminosity to the skin. If needed use a concealer to minimize imperfections. I suggest to apply a few coats of black mascara if needed. Some of you may also not need it.

Red lips make-up

Romantic soul makeup look

This look will suit the best all overall light tonalities with pale skin and low contrasts between hair and skin. The trick is a well hydrated skin and again Inika liquid foundation can be a good choice. The eyes should be emphasized but in delicate shades, because the mood is a modern “doll” with large open eyes. Curl well your lashes and apply a few coats of mascara that it can be brown. But before applying mascara sculpt your eyelids with a neutral eyeshadow in light pink shade to define the eyes (like Inika Pink fetish eyeshadow). To counteract the effect, shape well your eyebrows with a brow pencil (like Inika eyebrow pencil for blondes). They should look defined but as natural as possible. The lips will look great in Lily Lolo lipstick Romantic rose, a shade that will give to those porcelain complexion the right amount of color.

Inika make-up and Lily lolo make-up

Natural elegance makeup look

This make-up is the best for classic or business women, who still want to look lovely, without being too rigorous. Using earth tonalities blended well together will keep the look “calm” but not boring. Choose together a gold and bronzy shade for your eyes and extend the color outside for a slightly dramatic effect. Use a touch of gold in the inner corner of the eye to give radiance to the entire look. Complete the look with a brown pencil to define the eyes. Line the upper lashline with the pecil and smudge the line. Apply mascara. You can sculpt the cheeks with a touch of bronzer or a blush in natural light beige brown shades. The lips will look great in nude creamy tonalities like Lily Lolo lipstick Love affair – a dusky brown nude shade.

nude make-up look with Inika and Lily Lolo

Among many green suggested products that you can use for creating your make-up, I’d like to emphasize and review 2 of my current favorites:

Inika liquid foundation review

I like this new discovery, especially for upcoming spring days. Its texture is light and the coverage is light-medium, but at the same time it performs better than a tinted moisturizer for instance. I especially like the finish that it gives to the skin, some kind of luminosity without looking greasy. If you need more coverage or hide any imperfections you can mix it with Inika liquid concealer. They work great together. Here is the Inika liquid foundation swatch of their lightest color called Cream:

Inika liquid foundation

It is suited for very light, fair skin tones and it has a neutral to warm undertone. I’d not recommend this foundation to those who like heavier coverage. Inika has got 4 liquid foundations in their collection. In general I also like  its list with ingredients where there are: Aloe vera juice, Avocado, Olive, Coconut and Jojoba oil, Shea and cocoa butter, Oils of: Rosehip, Evening Primrose, Camellia, Ylang Ylang, Lavender and Tamanu among many others.

Inika mineral make-up liquid foundation review

Lily Lolo lipsticks review

I have tried 3 lipsticks from the Lily Lolo collection that consists of 6 beautiful and modern shades. I decided to review them because I find them great especially for the upcoming spring. The colors are not too vibrant, but their shades are designed with a modern touch. I find the selection of colors very sophisticated. I have tried 3 very different colors: a warm mid-toned red shade called Lily Lolo lipstick French flirt (you can see the swatches bellow) that suits many women, except those with very cool undertones (Desire is a red shade that is better for cool skin). I like to wear the most Lily lolo lipstick Love affair – a browny nude shade with a touch of pink, perfect for everyday and neutral skin tones. While Lily Lolo lipstick Romantic rose is also a great choice for wearing everyday and it’s somehow a shade that is suitable for most women with light-medium overall tonalities. It’s a modern rich rose pink.
The lipsticks in general are very hydrating, and quite lasting. However, because of their high hydrating properties they don’t last for a very long time so you need to retouch them, especially if you wear them without lip liner. But the effect on the lips is very nice, creamy and chic.

Lily Lolo lipsticks

The reason I have chosen to include those 2 products for Valentine’s day makeup is because they are very appropriate to wear: they look natural and give your skin a healthy and radiant look. They are great together with the looks I have presented, where the makeup is made to enhance your beauty, without looking fake and overloaded with make-up. Which is great for a lovely date 🙂

Hope you enjoy the looks and like the products. Do you already use them? Let me know your experiences and thoughts.

I love to shop Inika and Lily Lolo’s products at Ecco-verde store.

Relax your feet – the key to health and wellbeing

feet wellness

How many of you suffer from cold feet (not just in winter)? Do you get blisters often? Any problem that reflects on our feet shows us that our body suffers from imbalance and is a clear signal that we should so something for our health.

I want to share with you an excellent method that I practice often, it is extremely simple but it can do wonders for your health.
Traditional chinese medicine (TCM) states that our heart is not casually located far away from our feet. The heart (or The Emperor in TCM) is the supreme controller of all other systems in the body. In general, toxins travel from the upper to the lower part of the body and in order to protect the heart, the body sends toxins far away from it. This means that the body collects the toxins in the lower body, especially in our feet. When the accumulation of toxins rises it can lead to many diseases. This is why we should care for our feet not just by doing pedicure and choose shoes that are comfortable and well designed, but also to treat them often. Furthermore, if we take a look on the TCM chart with meridians we will see that on feet are located many important meridians: gall bladder, kidney, liver, spleen and stomach.

Soaking your feet

I will give you a fantastic tip to warm your body, to relax and to stimulate your body towards health. I do this often and I always feel great, but I didn’t know till recently that it has so many benefits. The method is very simple: Soak your feet in hot water! And you can achieve miracles in your wellbeing! Don’t underestimate the simplicity of this powerful method (that is in use for decades in TCM).
After soaking your feet in a basin with hot water (at around 40 degrees Celsius) for about 20 minutes you will feel your body warmer, because it improves the blood circulation. You will sleep better and what is really good: it will be especially beneficial if you have any diseases with female reproductive organs.
Some people put salts or herbs in the water, but TCM recommends using just clear water, because the salts will be soaked inside by the body and so can be unpleasant for kidneys energy, especially if it is weak. Some TCM practitioners recommend to put the ginger “tea” in it to warm the body. But the best is clear water. Note that the perfect timing to soak your feet is before you go to sleep. And when you finish keep your legs and body warm (don’t go out, etc.)!

Help yourself with Acupressure

The second advice is to massage your feet gently and so you will stimulate acupressure points that are connected with internal body organs. The best is to give your feet a treatment from time to time and visit a good practitioner of reflexology massage. You won’t believe how beneficial this can be! I remember that it literally changed my overall physical well-being when my legs and feet hurt after walking too much. I went to a few reflexology massages and the first time I arrived home I went sleeping for 2 hours! After I felt like new, regenerated. I haven’t got the intention to sleep but fortunately my body “forced” me to stop, lay down and recharge.

Detox patches

Another great thing I discovered recently are the so called Detox patches for feet that are based on natural ingredients and derives from ancient Japanese and Chinese traditions. You simply put the patches on feet during night and in the morning when you remove them, they are black because of toxins that have accumulated in them. The patches have natural ingredients that are soaked in the body and that stimulate the body to remove toxins out. After doing a longer treatment the patches will become clear which means the body is detoxicated. You will also feel better and lighter. I have tried it and I was very satisfied. When I have put them the first time on, I felt some kind of prickling in different parts of the body and I knew that the body has start to work.

NOTE  During pregnancy you should not practice reflexology. If you have any serious health issues you should consult before a TCM specialists or your doctor.

Bdellium Tools and Real techniques makeup brushes review

Bdellium Tools Green bambu, Maestro and Real techniques

It’s again time to review make-up brushes! I’m so happy to share with you my excitement about these new goodies that I like so much! Make-up brushes are really my “weak point” and I can’t wait for a long time without buying at least a couple of them.

As you already know I love to test different brands, but I will start with Bdellium Tools that is one of my favorite brand of make-up brushes brands and my last beauty “obsession” from the green beauty world!

Bdellium Tools Green bambu 953 Duet Fiber Foundation review

Bdellium Tools

I use this brush for a few months and I like it sooo much! It’s from the Green bamboo series, which means it has synthetic fibers, but because it’s duet-fiber it means that it is made from 2 different synthetic fibers. The green fibers are soft and come around the brush. While the (almost transparent) white ones are stiffer and allow together with the green ones to apply and distribute the product easily and evenly. Because its quite small shape this brush is perfect for applying liquid products and I can reach all the small corners and areas on the face. If you try it and use it for yourself, you will find that your foundation is applied quickly. This brush is especially good if you have a thin face and so a big brush would be quite inappropriate. For instance, I use it a lot on myself cause I have quite a thin face and so its shape suit my face perfectly. However, it also depends which product you will apply with it; I love to use it with a nice tinted moisturizer or for liquid foundations with a light consistency, or even for distributing (stippling) the primer before applying the foundation. You can also apply with it liquid or cream blush when you want to get that subtle modern flush of color. Overall, I’m thrilled about this brush!

NOTE I always forgot to specify that this kind of duet-fiber brush is not meant to apply the foundation in circular motions or with standard strokes (like with the classic foundation brush) but with a stippling technique. That means you apply your foundation with pressing it lightly into the skin in order to achieve the perfect skin effect. This is what it’s designed for.

Bdellium Tools Green Bambu 945 Contour Brush review

Bdelium Tools Green bambu

I really wanted to try even this brush because it’s so small and thin in shape. It depend on what I do, but in general I tend to use brushes of smaller sizes for applying powder or blush because this way I can be more precise and apply just small amounts of product where needed. And it’s also better to add smaller amount of product than to apply too much of it at once. This is also the reason why I like this brush and use it for many different things. The 945 is not duet-fiber, but it’s really soft. It is meant to be a contour brush which is fine for contouring smaller areas. But I like it even for applying blush when I have before me a face with small cheeks where a delicate sweep of color is needed just on the apples of the cheeks. I also use it for applying setting powder on smaller areas like underneath the eyes or around the nose for touch-ups. It can be used also for applying powder highlighters on top of cheekbones for instance. On the picture below you can see both brushes from the top. When compared they are similar in density but they have 2 totally different functions.

Bdellium Tools Maestro 776 Blending Brush

Bdellium Tools

This brush is from Bdellium Tools Maestro series that is meant to be a line for make-up artists and this series is also hand-crafted. I bought the 776 brush because I use it a lot and for some things is really irreplaceable. As you may know the first that launched it was MAC (with their 217) and did literally a cult brush, but this one is absolutely comparable to MAC and does its job perfectly. It’s made from natural goat fibers but Bdellium reassures they are cruelty free, because they don’t use fibers of exotic animals (like squirrel,..). Read more about this here. The specialty of this brush is that is not too big and it has soft fibers but they are “rigid” enough to blend the product well or to use it for blending even cream concealers. It does a fantastic job especially when used for applying liquid concealers under the eyes. Overall, it’s a must-have brush for every make-up artist especially in this HD era of precise make-up applications.

Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman Your Base/Flawless Expert Face Brush

Real Techniques make-up brush

Since I have heard many good reviews and suggestions about Real Techniques, I finally decided to give them a try. First, I wasn’t sure whether it’s all about marketing pomp or it is true. So I needed to try them in order to give an objective opinion. I am nicely surprised, because the brushes are very good and they are also nice designed. For the first time, I wanted to try 2 different shapes of their brushes. This is the first one: Flawless Expert brush which is quite dense but it has quite short bristles in comparison with its density which is fine because you can blend the liquid product quickly and easily, especially in bigger areas. You can use it also for applying powder but I don’t tend to use it that way. I prefer to apply with it liquid foundations, especially if there is a wider area of face/skin to work on. It’s also great for applying some creamy foundations as well. The foundation is quickly blended and in a few strokes. For those who don’t want to have an array of brushes like me 😀 I highly recommend this brush. You can do everything with it: apply your foundation, set the powder and even apply your blush. I don’t like to use it that way because I love changing brushes while I work, but for the main part of you it will work great.

Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman Your Finish/Perfected Setting Brush

Real Techniques make-up brushes

All Real Techniques brushes are made from very soft synthetic bristles and they have a very good shape of the handle that fits great in the hand. It’s also very interesting that they have the most part of the handle covered in aluminum. I think they are so light because of this. This setting brush is really a lovely one. It has a slightly pointed tip that allows you precise works like: setting the powder under the eyes or applying concealer. I also love it for applying cream highlighters under the brow bone, on the top of cheekbones, on the bridge of the nose,… I think this is a modern shape of brush that will work great especially for make-up artists and all who want a special type of make-up applications.

Bdellium tools and real techniques

These are all my last acquisitions that I really love to use and are absolutely my must-haves.

W3ll people makeup review

w3ll people makeup

The time to try Well people makeup collection has finally arrived! I am a big lover of makeup products with a creamy consistency. I’ve already tried RMS beauty, Ilia, Mychelle and Vapour which are among my favorites. The only one missing in my collection and that intrigued me to try in this moment was Well people. But somehow I never managed or remembered to purchase them. This time I decided to gave them a try. Since the original package is in plastic stick version and the overall design does not attract me so much, I rather bought double samples of every item that interested me. Well people is a brand from USA who has a collection of makeup products in creamy version (like foundation, multi-use stick, lip balm) and mineral powder products as well. The brand gave funny names to products like: Nudist, Universalist, Paganist,…

I wear and use creamy foundations (with green ingredients of course!), because they are handy, easy to use and if made properly they give a natural and healthy finish. Narcissist is the foundation with a creamy texture in a stick package. It comes in 6 shades. When applied, it blends well into the skin. You can apply it directly with your fingers and melt into the skin or use a foundation brush or sponge to blend. Even though Narcissist is creamy, its texture is not heavy and you can achieve a natural flawless coverage. If you have any visible imperfections or discolorations the coverage is medium, so you have to use a concealer as well.

w3ll people makeup review

w3ll people makeup review

The colors are quite good chosen, but I think that a few more shades should be added, especially for darker skin tones. I’d define the finish of this foundation as semi-matte, which is fine, because it does not look cakey nor too shimmering. The list with ingredients is really pure! While wearing Narcissist foundation your skin will be nourished with Sunflower oil, Green tea leaf extract, Reishi mushroom and Bayberry among others. My overall rating for this product is very good: I like the consistency, the finish and the ingredients. On the other hand, there is a lack of shades and the package is not in harmony with the quite expensive price of the product. I know that the essence is the key but when you opt to the high class customer, the package should communicate more. Well people has universal transparent sticks with a printed paper label on it. If compared with RMS that is in the same price range, we got a custom designed pot with printed logo on the tin cap and the product is in a beautiful glass jar.

Beside the Narcissist foundation, I wanted to try Universalist colored multi-use sticks the most, because I’m in constant search of colors. When looking at the color swatches on their website, I thought: Finally some interesting colors in the green world! Nope. I was completely wrong. Obviously I expected too much. I know that nowadays many brands make photoshoped virtual product swatches, but somehow I didn’t expect this. What would you expect when you see these colors?

I’m very well used to choose colors when buying products from the web, but I cannot ignore the tremendous cheating with photoshoped colors here. Ok, let’s take a look now to the positive side of this product. Universalist is a multi-use stick that comes in the same stick package as Narcissist. It is meant to use with a brush or with your fingers to apply it on cheeks, eyes or even lips. It comes is 2 versions: matte and luminous. I’ve ordered almost all color samples, except 3 from the entire range: Universalist n.2 (white), n.1 and n.5 that were out of stock. In fact I was interested mostly in their “vibrant” shades as they claim them to be. The texture is nice, comparable and compatible with Narcissist. It gives you a flawless, natural finish. The color has a medium pigmentation. If applied in many layers then the color is buildable, but it also creases a little bit while wearing it for a long time, even though I have set it with powder. I have to mention that both Narcissist and Universalist don’t have any particular smell, which is fine. The scent is natural, delicate, it reminds me just of vegetable oils, without any added fragrance. The list with ingredients is almost similar to Narcissist’s with grapeseed oil & green tea extract, reishi mushroom extract, olive, coconut and passionflower oil among the main ones.

The selection of shades in real life (without virtual colors) is prone to natural earthy tonalities which I don’t mind at all, I find them nice. But definitely they are not vibrant or vivid at all! If we take a look at the swatches the most colorful one is Universalist n.7. At Well People they called it “creamy peony” which is true. A natural neutral muted raspberry shade that give you a natural flush. Another nice shade is the luminous gold n.9 that can be used also as a highlighter especially if mixed with the foundation. The biggest disappointment is Universalist n.6 which in reality is a muted dark plum. A very ordinary shade, instead of the vibrant violet magenta they are offering.

When you look at the product in the package where there is a big amount of color, some colors really look very pigmented. But when applied on the skin they are delicate and the shades are very conventional, nothing special. Overall, I prefer RMS and Vapour, or I make my own shades. I wouldn’t mind at all, if they’d sell their colors as they are, without promises of vibrant colors.

If I was totally disappointed with this product is also my fault, I admit it! I was so charmed by the amazing color palette on their website that I somehow didn’t see that Nudist is a lip balm and not a lipstick. Because of such a pigmentation I was sure that this product will give a nice boost of color anyway. When I opened the package I was finally excited because the colors looked more vibrant than previous ones. The smell of these lipbalms is quite fresh, like peppermint.

I started to put my fingers in the jars and apply them on my hands first. Oh, there is almost no color! I couldn’t believe to my eyes because the colors looked so pigmented in the pot. I went again to the website to check, if I have ordered wrong colors?! Not at all, I saw that Nudist is a lip balm… Ok, I got it now. At the end, there is no trace of vibrant colors. When applied to the lips is very hydrating and it gives a natural looking sheer finish with a touch of color.

It looks nice and modern because of the sheer finish but it’s not an opaque lipstick with a vibrant color just to warn you when you will check their website. Nudist is a slightly pigmented lip balm with a peppermint scent and nice green ingredients.

From the mineral powder collection I was interested the most by these 2 items: Realist setting powder in HD version and a few Elitist eyeshadows. Elitist is a range of mineral powder eyeshadows that come in 3 finishes: matte, satin and shimmer. When I was looking at the color selection of all their mineral powder products (bronzer, blush, eyeshadows) I wasn’t attracted to try them, because the color selection for me does not have a character. The chosen palette looks overall washed out. I absolutely love natural shades, but here the overall feeling is: pastel colors. And we know that pastels don’t suit everyone, or better they suit the minority. The eyeshadows look like they are mixed with too much white and are designed for the light cool type of woman. I decided to choose just the shade n.82 and 824 from the shimmer collection. I like these two colors! They are very shimmering and so suitable just for evening makeup. N.824 is an old gold with a green olive tonality. N.82 is a shimering black with a midnight blue undertone and it looks more smoky black rather than blue (as it does on their picture). Both eyeshadows are very pigmented and have a good staying power.

W3LL PEOPLE makeup review

Realist X is a white, translucent and very finely grounded setting powder that almost disappear in the skin. It does a good job and so it’s well called HD (high definition). But the only thing that bothers me about this product is its incredibly fine grounded powder. There is no claiming anywhere that there is no use of nanotechnology… Just wondering.

To conclude, I’m glad I ordered just samples because this brand surprisingly won’t go in my category “Favorite safe brands”. Maybe I will purchase from time to time a few products and that’s all, unless they will really change something that would attract me. My suggestion is to change the color swatches to real ones, to improve the color palette and perhaps even improve the package for that price.

IMPORTANT UPDATE! 11th april 2013  I’ve just taken a look on Well people website to check if there are any news…Big surprise! They have changed the package which looks chic, clean and in harmony with their philosophy. And what is most important, they don’t have anymore all that photoshopped color swatches as they used to have! Anyhow, lots of compliments for this change they’ve made which resonates much more with their natural philosophy! Now, I have even added them in my list of favorite safe brands! Here is their new look:

Beauty ritual for moms on the go (and all women who don’t have time) – part 2

Two natural and quick makeup looks

Beauty ritual for moms on the go

I know that a busy mom does not have time for standing in front of the mirror for hours, but you feel so good if you take 3-5 minutes in the morning and do your make-up. Here are some easy steps how to create a lovely look everyday in a few minutes. I have also included some additional suggestions of my favorite all-green brands.

How to create an easy, fresh makeup look

This look (see left top picture) is meant for all of you who want a natural, easy going look, where you want just enhance your natural beauty with a touch of delicate colors.

Beauty ritual for moms on the go (and all women who don't have time)

Do you remember the beauty basics from the 1st part of this article? If you don’t, check them here  and then step forward to start your make-up application. You will need just some good natural tools:

1. step – Concealer or tinted moisturizer  For those who has perfect skin: lucky you 😀  If you have any spots or dark circles use a good cream concealer where needed and you are done. Read here more tips on how to apply concealer. You can also use a tinted moisturizer if you want to give your skin just a nice glow. If you really have time or if you cannot live without liquid foundation, go for it instead of tinted moisturizer! It’s essential to give the skin a natural look with enhancing your complexion and to make a canvas for other products. This way the pencils, eyeshadows and blush will stay longer on your skin. Further the skin will have a protective layer.

2.step – Mascara  even if you won’t use any other products, mascara will open your eyes and give your face another dimension and more depth. The eyes look so lovely opened when defined by a few coats of mascara.

3. step – Lip&cheek stain or a tinted lip balm: Choose light-medium dark natural shades like antique rose, pastel pink, apricot or peach. They will enhance your complexion and give a natural flush to your face. You can even use a lipstick and apply it with fingers on cheeks. You will look radiant!

If you want you can finish here. Basically, you need 3 products and a few minutes

Tinted moisturizer + Mascara + Lip balm

Optional  Eyeshadow – a touch of light natural shades on eyelids like: slightly shimmer vanilla or champagne will add you glow and open you eyes. You cannot go wrong with neutral shades even if you apply them in hurry. You can dab the shadow on the eyelids with fingers or blend it with a brush.

Mom on the go quick makeup

Quick defined makeup look

For those who don’t feel comfortable going out with “invisible makeup” here is another quick makeup suggestion (see the right picture on top):

Mom on the go make-up

Follow the step 1 and prepare your skin as mentioned above.

2.step  with a soft brown eye pencil draw a line along the upper lash line and smudge it. Instead of eye pencil you can also use a powder mineral eyeshadow and apply it with a damp angled brush. The line will be done quick and easily. For dramatic look extend the line outward and create a wing. (Read here how to apply eyeliner.)

3.step Mascara must to add volume and open the eyes.

4.step a delicate touch of color on your lips with a lip balm (and also on cheeks if you want)

NOTE I have written this post according to the small amount of time that a uber busy modern mom has for herself. This post can be also a good suggestion for all women who does not have a lot time and need quick but efficient results. Hope you enjoy it 🙂
