Autumn inspired makeup with Lily Lolo – on the model

In the previous post (here) I was describing as accurately as I could some products from Lily Lolo along with some inspirations about how to wear it. Later, I put this make-up look in practice on a model and I thought to share with you a few photos (unretouched and backstage). However, I’m also glad that you love so much the previous Lily Lolo post, which was an additional reason to show you this look more in depth. Hope you like it  😉

Names of Lily Lolo pressed eyeshadows I’ve used: Voodoo, Truffle shuffle, Ivy League, Brassed off.

On the face I’ve applied Lily Lolo BB cream Light.

Special thanks to the model Maja M!

Neve cosmetics duo-chrome palette and Bio primer

In the last year I’ve become a fan of Neve cosmetics without even realising it how much. Step by step, after trying slowly their novelties I found myself saying “I love those pastelli pencils!” or “Those pigments are awesome”! and “It’s time to try one of their palettes!”. And yes here I am with their newest Duochrome palette! I don’t know why I haven’t tried yet any of their palettes…One reason is that I thought, ok I still have plenty of my palettes for professional use, so yes next time…You know this stuff of procrastination 🙂 But now I’m even more happier that I have finally try it.

Neve cosmetics

The palette has beautiful shimmery shades that are duo chromatic, which means that each shade is made of 2 colours; for instance you have a dark brown with emerald green shimmer. The pigments are awesome in terms of pigmentation! I was blown away when I first put them on my hand. I can easily compare them with professional stuff like Yaby that I love to use for professional work. Here is a quite old picture from a set where I had visible the Yaby palette, so I can show you the comparison. The Yaby palette with the pearl paints (shimmery colours that are almost creamy) is behind the first white palette.

makeup palettes

The shades are all easy to apply and blend amazingly well. This stuff is going directly in my makeup kit!

Please note that the colours on my pictures of Neve are a little bit muddy because outside the light wasn’t really good. Bear in mind that they are much more vivid (on swatches too). Below you can see the swatches of the entire palette on daylight.

Neve Duochrome palette swatches; top and bottom row are positioned like in the palette

Neve cosmetics

From top:

#Pioggia Acida: Medium olive green with gold shimmer (on the skin has a cool undertone).

#Utopia: Cobalt blue with pink shimmer (in the palette looks cool purple violet).

#Fenice: Intense warm copper with a touch of rose.

#Chimera: Dark violet with rose shimmery particles.

#Twilight: Intense grey with a bronzy satin effect

#Mela Stregata: Violet brown with emerald green shimmer.

#Abracadabra: Aqua blue with light green shimmer.

#Polline: Intense warm yellow with lime green particles.

#Veleno: Dark reddish brown with green shimmer.

#Mezza Estate: Light orange yellow with rose undertone.

And I love the names, they are so fun like Mela stregata which means Bewitched apple, Pioggia acida = Acid rain, …  🙂

Neve cosmetics Bio primer for dry skin

There couldn’t be more surprises than adding a new product like a primer to the collection. It is out today! And they did 2 of them: one for dry/normal skin and the other for combination skin. I have the one for dry skin. First I thought that is going to be transparent, but it seems they did almost a bb cream. Why almost? Because it has some colour when you open it and put on the skin. But when you wear it, it does not act like a BB cream. Which means that enhances the skin with a light radiant layer, but it does not cover imperfections. Basically it prepares the skin for the next step (foundation), which is what the primer is supposed to do. As you can see on the picture, below on my hand there is the product directly from the tube and above it is blended in the skin and it’s almost invisible. Just a tiny bit of colour. This primer is based on argan oil, shea butter and aloe vera extract. It is free of silicones, which was their purpose to create a silicone-free, mineral-oil free primer. And compared to conventional ones it does it job well.

To conclude, I have to say that Neve cosmetics is growing faster and faster. This young Italian brand doesn’t stop to surprise me; they improve continuously, lots of their formulations are becoming vegan and many products act great even for pro use!

Any thoughts about Neve cosmetics?

Lily lolo makeup review

I finally got my hands on some products from Lily Lolo that I wanted to try. Especially the new Lily Lolo BB cream that was on my “curiosity list”. And since I’m a fan of all-sorts of pressed make-up products, I tried their pressed eyeshadows too. I wanted to try the blushes as well, but were out of stock, so next time along with the new upcoming eye palettes (with pressed eyeshadows of course!).

Lily Lolo BB cream

lily lolo review

Although the new age of foundation/tinted moisturisers called BB/CC,… creams is just a marketing strategy for another product, I admit that I find myself well with them. Because overall, they are light in texture, they enhance the skin tone and even if they don’t cover everything perfectly they still give the skin that youthful modern appearance. So if your skin does not have any major imperfections, these products will suit you great. I’m so pleased that Lily Lolo has added this product in their collection. It comes in 2 shades: light and medium and it is packed in a handy and beautiful tube with a pump which I like very much! I have tried the light shade as you can see on the swatch below. On the picture it looks too yellow because it was taken in warm afternoon daylight. The shade is designed very well in my opinion, because it is not too yellow nor too dark for light skin. It gives your skin a nice layer of coverage that I’d describe it light to medium. It does not cover imperfections like red spots or dark circles but it diminishes them a little bit. But after all the point of the bb cream is not to be a full coverage foundation. For those who want it, the mineral powder should be applied over it. I don’t like this option because I tend to dislike the matte powdery finish. I prefer some concealer and a little bit of setting powder, if needed.

Lily Lolo pressed eyeshadow and Lily Lolo Eyebrow duo review

My selection of Lily Lolo pressed eyeshadows for autumn makeup (from left clockwise: Ivy league, Voodoo, Truffle shuffle, Brassed off and Eyebrow duo medium,

lily lolo

Every new season I got ideas and inspirations about new colours to wear. This time I have chosen intuitively a muddy greyish, palette, where colors interact like a wash of water-colour, where there is no dark and hard edge between light and dark. The colours of the same chromatic intensity melt together. Greyish with a green undertone like Voodoo shade or the golden bronze like Brassed off can be a different and beautiful suggestion to crash the “old” known style. I adore the olive green mix with antique gold that Ivy league offers: a very special shade to wear that adds depth to the eyes. Another mix I love is grey-green Voodoo combined with the purplish muddy grey Truffle shuffle…Very chic for autumn. The BB cream is great for this look, where the eyes are the focus. A lift to the eyebrows, clear lips and that’s it!

Lily Lolo pressed eyeshadows swatches. From left: Brassed off, Truffle shuffle, Ivy league, Voodoo

lily lolo

If I switch to the “technical” side of the eyeshadows, I just praise them! I haven’t expected such a quality. They are very intense in pigmentation, slightly shimmery, but not too much and the nice thing is the shimmery particles are finely grounded. The staying power is impressive even without any primer underneath they lasts for hours.

I also like Lily Lolo Eyebrow duo which comes in 3 shades: light, medium and dark. I have tried the medium one, which is a very well designed shade for brunettes, not too deep but more than enough for most women. The wax included is great too to set everything in place. A big like for this product too! Finally, got a good green option for brows!

Anyone in love with Lily Lolo?

I shop Lily Lolo products in one of my favourite online shops Ecco verde that had in stock the new products a few days after the launch!

Big Lavera makeup review – part 2

Lavera make-up review

As I promised you during summer, I’m now back with the review of other products from new Lavera Trend sensitive line. Let’s check them straight ahead!

Lavera Lips & cheeks n.3 and n.4

I already described this product in this post before, so I will now only add the swatches of other 2 shades. You can see both of them in the top picture. Shade n.3 is called Fancy melon and is a matte bright pinky coral (is not too orange nor too pink). The other one is Cool Berry and is a medium wine red with cool undertones.

Left: Lavera Lips&cheeks Cool berry n.4 and right Lavera Lips&cheeks Fancy melon n.3

New Lavera lipsticks

It’s fantastic that Lavera has added many new lipsticks and changed all the colours and formulations! The lipsticks are now much creamier and thus moisturising. They have 4 new shades in the Matte collection, 15 shades in the Beautiful lips collection and 2 additional for fall winter limited edition. I will review 2 gorgeous shades from the Matte collection and one from the Beautiful lips.

Lavera lipstick Caramel glam (n.21) is a perfect day colour in a medium pink beige shade. It’s smooth and creamy and it glides excellently on the lips when applied. Here are all 3 swatches of Lavera lipsticks from top: n.25, n.21, n.28

lavera makeup

The other 2 swatches are from the Matt collection. Lavera lipstick Matt’n Plum is a deep plum red with a cool undertone; a great shade to wear in upcoming fall/winter days! While the other one Lavera lipstick Matt’n Pink is a subtle medium pastel antique rose – the perfect warm rose that suits almost every woman. The kind of natural lip colour. And all the lipsticks have a pleasant smell of vanilla, I sense it this way 🙂

Lavera Eyeshadow base (primer)

I didn’t expect to love this primer! You can see it on the top pictureIt comes in a small tube and it looks like a semi transparent gel. A little goes a long way and when applying it you need to work it quickly cause it dries. This is because it’s made to reduce the oiliness from the lids. With the eyeshadow it gives not just a more intense colour, but it also prevents the eyeshadows to crease. A nice surprise from a natural brand. It can be compared to some “famous” primers.

Left eyeshadow without primer, eyeshadow with primer, a drop of primer

Lavera Eyeshadow quattro Purple fantasy n.3

Along with the eye primer I couldn’t resist to try one of those eyeshadows 🙂 I’ve chosen this one because it’s a great choice for a classic day makeup that you can upgrade in evening with deeper colours all in one palette. Except the lightest peachy shade which is slightly frost, others are matte. We have a medium browny beige, a medium warm plum and a warm chocolate brown. The intensity is very good as you can see in the picture. They blend easily and don’t crease in the lids.

Lavera Lip gloss and blush

I wanted to try almost everything from the new collection. I’m surprised about the new glosses and blushes! I did a choice all in pink 🙂 The blush is a nice warm pink with a subtle golden shine, very pigmented! The lip gloss has an amazing vanilla scent and flavour and is also very hydrating, not sticky and it gives a nice colour on the lips. This one is a creamy pink shade.

Lavera blush Pink harmony n.4 and Lavera lip gloss Sweet melon n.10

Lavera make-up

Last but not least: Yes I have the new mascaras as well and they are very good just to let you know 🙂 But I’m saving them for the next review where I want to present you and compare more natural mascaras.

Stay tuned and I hope you find useful this post. If you have any questions about these new Lavera products comment below please 🙂

After summer makeup stories

after summer make-up
Bronzer + Coral lips

Here is one of the quick makeup looks for last summer days that I love because its simplicity, yet the elegance it gives you. It’s suitable for light to medium skin colours and it looks amazing on the remaining suntanned skin, deep green eyes and blonde – red orange hair. In summer I’m a big minimalist when it comes to makeup and beauty, because I allow my skin to breathe and detox itself naturally. But later after vacations the skin needs some extra pampering and it’s especially lovely to maintain the remaining suntan for some time. For me personally it’s more than enough to extend it in September 🙂 Later I’m more appealed to dark wine shades on the lips and pale skin. That’s just my personal preference.

summer make-up

My all-around products for this look including some novelties:

1. Tinted moisturizer to hydrate and even out your skin- Logona USA
2. Bronzer Kalahari (new one from Neve Cosmetics): I love this new bronzer because it’s matte and the shade is that nice sahara biscuit caramel tan, that is not too orange or too brown. Perfect bronzer for light skin! Definitely all to try. At the end it does not look cakey or too matte, especially if you use a tinted moisturiser or a BB cream underneath.
3. Eyelash curler (This one from Muji is portable and it works great, one of the best small on-the-go lash curlers!)
4. Mascara (still in love with this one from Logona Naturkosmetik that separates and defines the lashes)
5. Sugar scrub for perfect lips and on top the beautiful plumper in natural glowing rose for hydration. (Absolute must-have product from jane iredale – THE SKIN CARE MAKEUP
6. Lip pencil in matte coral (from Neve is still my fave shade for summer. It’s the perfect colour match to the bronzer! It brightens dull skin and the entire face instantly!

Pure Anada makeup

pure anada

I promised you, dear ladies that I will come back with the 2nd part of Pure Anada presentation, where I want to show you some of their makeup products that I find very nice! At the first glance, I was mostly attracted by their pressed mineral products. You know, that I’m always in search of these kind of products among green brands. But I ended up to like even some other products that I didn’t expected. Here is the review of my favourite products 🙂

Pressed powders in all shapes plus a gorgeous palette!

I love the fact that Candace, the owner of Pure Anada, has added in the collection this handy palette called Pro magnetic compact, where you can store all your pressed powders! Here is the picture with my products (one pot of the powders has broken, in case you are wondering what’s that 🙂 )

Pure Anada make-up

As you can see from the picture, I have stored inside 5 pressed eyeshadows, 2 blushes and 3 mineral powders. If you want to store separately the products, you can put inside 6 powders (the biggest one; 60mm diameter), 6 blushes + space for small eyeshadows. If you want to store only eyeshadows there is space for 24 of them.

Pure Anada pressed makeup

All Pure Anada pressed powders are sold separately in carton “envelopes” and so you can choose the product you want and put it in your palette. Among  pressed products I love the most Pure anada blushes I have 2 of them; Strawberry field (left) and Sweet Pea (right). The first one is a medium pink suitable for all skin types because it liven up your face, the Sweet Pea is an earth rose warm shade, perfect for a subtle natural nude effect.

On the picture I have added also the lovely Deluxe blush brush that you can easily use for applying blush or even pressed powders if you want a light effect.

Here is the list with ingredients: Mica (CI 77019), Iron Oxides (CI 77492, CI 77499) Calcium Carbonate, Caprylic Triglyceride *Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba seed oil) Ultramarines (CI 77007), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891) * Certified Organic Ingredient

Pure anada Pressed powder Sheer Matte Foundation comes in 5 shades. I have 3 of them. On the picture above you can see on top the Light shade and bottom left Very fair and right bottom Deep. As you can see the light shade is quite dark, so I recommend to try a shade lighter than you would. For instance I have light skin (not fair) but the right shade for me was Very fair. The texture of those powders is quite silky and gives a smooth finish. But if your skin is very dry, use a lot of moisturiser underneath and then spritz after with toner. Otherwise, for very dry skin I recommend to use the tinted moisturiser instead. The powder is easy to use and you can apply it with a brush by sweeping it in circular motions on the face.

Pure anada pressed eyeshadows I have just a few colours and I like them! The texture is soft and silky, not too dry nor too creamy. They have 20 pressed shades in matte and demi-matte finish. On the picture you can see: Whisper (demi-matte vanilla), Breeze (demi-matte blue), Meadow (demi-matte green), Dove (matte light grey), Onyx (dark semi-matte black grey). Another tip for the eyes that I personally love is to mix Whisper and on top I put the blush Strawberry field which gives a feeling of freshness on the eyes. The colours blend easily, are nicely pigmented and don’t crease! Here are some suggestions for your summer makeup:

Pure Anada lip makeup

I have tried 2 Pure Anada lipsticks: Petal and Bordeaux Cherry. I find their package amazing, so luxurious! Packed in a silvered bullet with the vintage logo PA. Both colours are pearly and I like them because are wearable and not too shiny. But I’d love to see also matte versions of lipsticks. Petal is a “day make-up” lipstick and is a light rosy bronze. While the second one is a deep pearly warm red with a hint of brown. I also tried one lipgloss called Icy pink, which is very moisturising and pearly too. The lipsticks are very wearable, they have a good staying power and pigmentation. Sometimes I find them a little bit dry, which is weird because they have so many oils.

Lipstick INCI: Ricinus Communis (Organic Castor Seed Oil), Simmondsia Chinensis (Organic, cold pressed Jojoba Seed Oil), Butyrospermum Parkii Fruit (Unrefined, Organic, Shea Butter), Limnanthes Alba (Organic Meadowfoam Seed Oil), Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla Wax), Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Mica, Iron Oxides, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Citrus Tangerina (Organic Tangerine Essential Oil)

Pure Anada make-up

Pure anada Loose eyeshadow pigments are one of my favourite products from this brand. Here are a few of them, as you can see they are highly pigmented! They have a huge selection of matte and luminous shades to choose from. They can be compared to professional pigments. Add sparkle to your eye makeup 🙂

How to: Wear this summer makeup trends

Review of new Lavera Trend sensitive makeup

soft summer make-up

It seems that these days there are 2 different makeup trends out there: the ultra heavy one with lots of conturing, based on old school techniques (a la Kim Kardashian style) where you get a complete makeover (and a mask like face where everyone looks the same) or the modern and fresh approach to makeup where you expose your features as they are with subtly enhancing the skin without looking overdone. Well, my approach has flipped through the years from the first one to the second one. This is why I’m going to present you the fantastic new Lavera makeup line along with some tips & tricks how to wear and achieve a natural yet gorgeous makeup especially in summer days.

Follow these steps to achieve that dewy look like you’d just hit the runway from Dolce&Gabbana!

Lavera Foundation

When talking about any makeup, not just the “modern” one, the most important feature to enhance is the face. We have to give it a radiant healthy finish without looking overdone – like you don’t wear any foundation. And here I want to introduce you 2 fabulous foundations from the new Lavera collection: Natural mousse make-up and 2-in-1 compact foundation. They are both in the category of light and seamless looking new era foundations. I have tried them first on myself and so I ordered them both in the shade n.01 Ivory. They both have a plethora of beneficial ingredients and oils, the only exception is one ingredient in the mousse which is a silicone (dodecane) which some of the greenest of you won’t like. I find the best way to apply them with fingers, but you can use a duo-fibre brush as well (this is the most suitable for this type of light foundations). I must emphasise my love for the new updated look and packages; they look beautiful, elegant and so professional as well! The first Lavera Mousse foundation is creamy and very light in texture and it gives you a matte finish although inside the glass jar it looks quite radiant shiny. The coverage is quite good in comparison with the light texture, I’d say light to medium. It comes in 3 shades and the one I picked is suited for light skin and thankfully has a neutral undertone with a hint of yellow. The second one Lavera 2-in-1 foundation blown me away! You might think about a cakey and heavy texture, looking too overdone; nope! It comes in 2 shades and it’s meant for touch-ups, but on myself I can use it easily alone. It comes in a gorgeous compact with mirror and sponge, but I prefer to use fingers which gives me more control and a small amount is needed. This one provides a matte finish with great coverage and looking like you don’t wear any make-up. It also covers my dark under eye circles so I need just a touch of under eye concealer which is great! The technology of both products amazes me, which is great that the green industry is improving so much!

lavera make-up

Green makeup tip Before applying any foundation take care of your skin with regular beauty routine and make sure to use a good moisturiser as a base. If your skin is flawless, you can use just a touch of concealer instead of any foundation.

Cheeks

are the next feature to enhance with a touch of subtle color. This summer you can choose more vivid colours, like corals, oranges, pinks, but wear them with the rest of your makeup at minimum. They want to be the in the spotlight 🙂 Apply them with a small brush or the best with fingers and blend the color seamlessly into the skin. You can add what’s left on the brush/finger on your lips too. I love the most this new product from Lavera called Lips&Cheeks which comes in 4 shades. I have tried 2 of them and felt in love. As you can see from the picture, I already dabbed into the pink one my brush and it looked amazing on the model I worked with! The other one I applied on myself with fingers 🙂 The texture is creamy and non greasy and blends easily to achieve the fresh look. I love the awesome finish and great pigmentation. A little goes a long way and you can wear them as vivid lipsticks too! All shades are so modern and want to try the other two too!

Highlighter

is one of the most important tools when it comes to radiant skin. On how to apply it check my post here, where I’ve explained exactly where it goes. There are 2 amazing products out there at Lavera called Soft Glowing highlighter  which comes in a lovely pot and 2 slightly shimmery colours: one golden for warm tones (Golden shine), another lunar rosy (Shiny pearl) for cool tones. They provide you a nice and glowing finish when applied properly without looking greasy. Here are the swatches (note that on all photos was some unwanted redness on my skin to take in consideration):

Thankfully, in the uber updated Ecco verde international online shop, you can find the entire new line from Lavera (and many other green brands as well)! And if you hurry I saw right now they have 10% off on all new Lavera makeup products!

But stay tuned, because I have many more products to review for you from this new Lavera makeup collection!

My new discovery: Pure Anada

Finally, finally I’m here with this review that waited for so long in my draft box! I say it because I really wanted to try in depth this Canadian brand that I discovered a few months ago and that I now regularly use many of their products (the mascara is almost dry 🙂 ups, I shouldn’t say it 🙂 It was such a good discovery and a positive, unexpected surprise! And now here I am to share my love with you.

My favorite trio from Pure Anada

Pure Anada review

I’m going to start with my favorite trio of products that have amazed me so much, especially at that time in winter when my skin was so dry that nothing was good enough. And I couldn’t believe the great result when I tried this combination of 2 products mixed together: Pure Anada Berry & Bouquet Hydra Cream +  Pure anada Tinted moisturiser. The cream is a very hydrating one but quite light in texture. It comes in a 60ml bottle with pump which is not just beautiful but also very hygienic. This cream is based on Rose hydrosol and aloe vera to hydrate the skin, natural vegetable oils of sunflower, argan and shea butter that give the skin lots of moisture but without being too oily! Plus it’s loaded with 2 beneficial ingredients: strawberry fruit and hibiscus extract that reverse the signs of ageing, tones and tightens pores. The cream has a very delicate gentle scent of rose and although there is in their collection another cream for sensitive skin, this one is suitable for it too. And you need it just a pump or two for the entire face, which means it lasts for quite a long time. In their huge skincare range Pure Anada has 3 moisturisers for different skin types.

Ingredients: Aqua, Rose Damascena (Rose hydrosol), *Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) oil, *Argania Spinosa (Argan) oil, *Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Fragaria Vesca (Strawberry Fruit), *Hibiscus Sabdariffa Flower Extract,   Leuconostoc/Aloe barbadensis Leaf/ Sorbus Aucuparia Fruit Ferment Filtrate (Preservative)

*Certified Organic Ingredients

Pure Anada swatches: left Berry & Bouquet Hydra Cream, right Tinted moisturizer Very fair

Pure Anada swatches

Pure Anada Tinted moisturizer

is packed in the same 60ml airless pump bottle as the cream and it has almost no smell. This tinted moisturiser is sheer but covering enough to even the skin tone. The result is absolutely visible, it’s not heavy like a mask or too invisible. It gives the perfect, modern coverage where your skin breathes and it has a natural, glowing appearance. It’s not greasy but moisturising. For me that I used to have really dry, even flakey skin on some areas I needed both products: the cream and the tinted moisturiser and together they gave me the dreamy finish. But for normally dry skin it’s enough even the tinted moisturiser on its own. Above you can see the swatch of very fair tinted moisturiser. I have noticed that when applied out of the bottle it’s much darker than it’s supposed to be, but I don’t know for what reason when applied to the skin it perfectly matches my skin tone. So at the end I was very pleased with the result. In their wide collection of different foundations they have 4 shades of tinted moisturisers.

Ingredients: Aqua, *Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) oil, *Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil,Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide, Silica, Boron Nitride, Iron Oxides, Ultramarines, Sorbitol, Gluconolactone (and) Sodium Benzoate
(Geogard® Preservative) *Certified organic Ingredients

Pure Anada mascara

Pure Anada

I LOVE THIS MASCARA! Is the first thing I can say. As you know it’s quite hard to find a natural mascara that would give you volume and would make your lashes long. Well, here it is! Especially the wand is very good, because it’s differently curved, if compared to other mascaras, which is crucial. In practice it means that it lengthens the lashes, while curving them and adding volume at the same time! It comes in black and brown color and it’s vegan (reformulated in 2013). You can read here many useful additional informations regarding this great mascara. I find quite hard to describe mascaras because one should try it. And this one is really all to try!

Additional love: Pure Anada Marine mineral toner

As you already know I’m a huge fan of toners and mists and this time is not an exception 🙂 Pure Anada toner is great for all skin types to refresh the skin and/or for setting your make-up (not just mineral one!). I have the small, travel version of 50ml and it’s a must-have not just for dry skin, but even now in hot summer days it will feel great in your bag 🙂 Below you can see the super clean list with ingredients. What is additionally great is that it doesn’t have any special scent.

Pure Anada

Ingredients: Aloe barbadensis (Organic Aloe) Leaf Juice, Ascophyllum Nodosum (Organic Kelp) Extract, Aphanizomenon Flos Aquae (Organic Blue Green Algae) Extract, Hyaluronic Acid, Salix nigra (Black Willowbark) Extract, Sodium Chloride (Dead Sea Salt), Citric Acid

But I haven’t finished here with the review, hehe 🙂 I have lots of other products to show you and review from this great brand. This was just a foretaste 🙂 Next time I will come back with colours…Huhu, stay tuned!

Have you tried anything from Pure Anada yet?

A new help for dark under eye circles!

Lauren Brooke New Corrective creme concealer review

lauren brooke cosmétiques

On the green beauty market we all know that concealers are still a big challenge to formulate. When it comes to “fight”under eye dark circles with a natural concealer the choice is still limited. Since I like Lauren Brooke cosmetiques products, I once suggested her to do a peachy concealer that would neutralise/erase dark circles. And now this brand hew concealer is here in front of me for about 2 weeks! I’ve tested and use it and still wear it of course and yes, like it too!

Many women don’t know that severe dark circles cannot be covered just with a normal concealer. Why? Because we have to neutralise the dark color under eyes which is different from the skin tone. It may be blue, violet, grey,…And so different concealers are needed to cover this discoloration. What happens if you just put on the dark circles a normal concealer in your skin tone color? It will become a greyish skin tonality, because a light color cannot “delete” a dark one. This is why we have to neutralise it with an opposite color, according to the color theory.

Coming back to this new concealer from Lauren Brooke, I’d define it a shade of peachy/salmon that counteracts the bluish coloured circles on light to medium skin with neutral or cool tonalities. Of course one color is not for everyone, but this is a typical correcting shade for many women with skin tonalities mentioned before.

It comes in a glass 7g jar which I find very nice. The texture is quite creamy which is good for the delicate under eye area. However, it might be a little too much, if used under the eyes where there are many fine lines. So I needed to set it with a little bit of translucent powder to avoid creasing, especially if wearing it with liquid foundation. But this is optional, depending on your skin type, lines under eyes and type of product you wear on top of it. All the beneficial oils are great and anti-ageing indeed but sometimes the product can be a little bit too creamy because of this. I can even wear it on its own just to correct dark circles if there is no time and so it works great just on naked skin with a touch of translucent powder on top.

Application: Right now I apply it with this new brush which is from an art store (as many others) which I adore because it’s soft and precise. When you apply the corrective concealer like this one, make sure you apply it only on the area needed where the dark color is and not around all the eyes. I apply the color gently with this brush by adding more if needed and then I tap around with my finger to blend together and massage the delicate area. And then after a moment I press a little bit of powder with a small soft brush, like the Real Techniques setting brush.

INCI: Capryllic/Capric Triglycerides, Zinc Oxide, Certified Organic Beeswax, Certified Organic Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Silica, Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Certified Organic Argania Spinsosa (Argan) Oil , Certified Organic Rosa Canina (Rosehip) Fruit Oil, Neem (Melia Azadirachta) Seed Oil, Natural Clay, Certified Organic Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Certified Organic Passiflora Incarnata Flower (Passionflower) Extract, Certified Organic Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Fruit Extract, Natural Vitamin E Oil (+/- Iron Oxides, Org Essential Oil Blend).

In conclusion, this concealer is a very good and fresh novelty on the green market. Since it does not contain any silicones or any other ingredients that’d dry or irritate the skin, the application has to be precise and “wise”. I mean to find your best way and amount to wear it.

If you have or will try this new concealer, please share with me your thoughts! Any other questions on this topic?

Iherb green beauty shopping – part 2

Hello there! Here I’m again with the second part of my Iherb shopping, where I’m going to review mainly some new brushes that I hope you’ll like. Well, I guess you’ll be curious since many of you are EcoTools and Real techniques fans. I was curious about some of these items too and so I wanted to give them a try. Before I start with the brushes I will present you a lovely item from a (for me) new brand called Deep steep. I was so attracted by this body mist which is fantastic in summer days to moisturise your skin. I have chosen the scent Grapefruit-Bergamot which is awesome fresh! And the ingredients are very good too. Here is the list:

Deep steep

INCI: Aqua, organic aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) leaf extract, infusion of organic herbs, citrus grandis (grapefruit) extract, citrus aurantium bergamia (bergamot) fruit extract, citrus aurantium dulcis (orange) fruit extract, aroma (organic and wildcrafted aroma blend), natural color. It’s packed in a nice plastic bottle of 177ml. When you apply it on your body, it leaves you a sense of freshness because of the citrus scent and it’s not sticky or oily which is great! They also have other items like oils, shower gels, creams, scrubs and other scents too. So it’s a brand to discover. Have you tried it yet?

Green makeup tip  I want to share with you another great tip that I discovered these days and which works great for me. It can be useful especially now in hot days as a hair removal tip. I realised that I can use this body mist not only after the epilation for hydrating and calming the skin, but even before! Why? When the hair became so small after long term epilation, and perhaps the skin is even dry, I realised it’s much better to hydrate the skin before (but the product must not be oily or greasy or creamy, therefore this mist is perfect!). When I bought the epilator, I even got some kind of wet wipes for using before the epilation (that I haven’t used of course, but I understood the point). And so I thought to use this Deep steep body mist before the epilation (instead of those wet wipes) and the body hair just went out better and quicker. The mist was super helpful, because it helped the epilator’s tweezers to adhere to the hair better and remove them quickly (even the smallest ones).

Iherb shopping

As you can see from the picture above I have picked a few different things. First on my list was EcoTools with the Six piece day to night clutch set and the new Skin perfecting brush. Btw, I’m so glad that Iherb has got all the novelties as soon as they are out! Regarding Real Techniques I wanted to try just the Stippling brush and the Miracle complexion sponge. In general, I’m not a fan of Real Techniques, although they are good brushes, because I find the handles using a lot of space and the long ferrules are quite “sensitive”; every time a brush falls down it has a scratch somewhere.

EcoTools make-up brushes

I like this cute brown-bronzy clutch, its practical aspect, all the brushes and it’s very well made as well (and the price is so affordable; in comparison with the quality is a good investment). It contains 5 brushes which are called this way (it’s even written the name on each brush): from left to right according to the photo above: Detailed lip/liner, Stay-there shadow, Round powder, Smudge, Pointed concealer. And now to the description on my own 🙂 I love all the brushes and use them in different ways. The first brush the so called Detailed lip/liner is an amazing small detailed brush suitable for applying the lipstick, to make a line with a gel eyeliner and I even find it useful for concealing small spots. Needless to say a multi-use brush! The second one, Stay-there shadow brush has a nice tapered cut point and is a quite large brush for eyeshadow application. It’s great for applying a layer of eyeshadow on the entire eyelid. The third and the biggest one from the set is a multi-purpose one as well! It’s not too big, but big enough to use it for powder, for blush and even bronzer, especially if you are on-the-run and you have to adjust your make-up quickly, this set has all you need. I love the softness of this brush. And all the brushes, as you may already know, dry very quickly, because have synthetic fibers. The fourth brush is called Smudge and is a small rounded brush with a pointed cut. It’s good for applying a dark shade of eyeshadow on the lash line or in the crease of the eye and smudge it. Very good for detailed applications! The last brush is the Pointed concealer which is stiffer than the previous one which is very soft and this is why is good for applying concealer even under the eyes and blend it well. Here are all the “small” brushes from the set to see them in detail and compare them:

EcoTools Skin perfecting brush review

are the next 2 brushes from this brand that I love too! Especially the big one called Skin perfecting brush which is meant to use with the new technologies of products like BB/CC creams, primers, tinted moisturisers. This brush is great because it stays very comfortable in the hand and you can work quickly with it. It has a tapered cut, it’s very dense and soft and it’s a duo-fibre brush; all features that makes a good quality brush for this purpose. I’ll compare it later with the second one from Real Techniques. It does an excellent job, also because you can reach every corner of the face thanks to its shape. Highly recommended! I love to apply all sorts of primers, creamy products, especially these light and modern type of foundations. Easy to use, handy and gorgeous design! In this set was added another brush as a bonus which is a smaller one called Eye primer brush. This is also a duo-fiber brush designed for applying eye primer, although it can be used as a classic concealer brush as well. It’s a little bit stiffer, because it’s meant for detailed work. I don’t use it so much, but it’s definitely a good brush that complement nicely this set.  Below, I have put the picture of 4 brushes to compare. From left to right: the powder brush from the 6piece day to night set, the 2 above described brushes and the Real Techniques stippling brush that I’ll now describe below.

EcoTools and Real Techniques

Real Techniques Stippling brush review

The main point of this US brand is in my opinion the multi-use and practical purpose of every brush or product (sponge). Their signature design is also very well recognisable in the huge makeup brush world. Which is great! Their concept is very good and I wanted to try some of their brushes that I like. But overall, I’m not such a fan of them, because I find them quite big and not so comfortable to carry around in a make-up bag. They just take a lot of space. For instance when I wanted to put this brush in my makeup bag it didn’t go in the normal brush section and even among other products it took so much place. So this is for me a downside. But I use it at home and it’s nice for using it with any cream or powder product. Because it’s a duo-fiber, it picks the right amount of product and transfers it evenly on the face. This is a good advantage with all duo-fiber brushes. I have to say that in comparison with Bdellium Tools Studio line duo-fibers these two (EcoTools and RealTechniques) are both much better. Compared to the previous one from EcoTools this one is less dense and it has a round shape. You can see the difference on the photo here:

Real techniques and EcoTools

and here to see the length of the handles as well:

Real techniques and EcoTools

To conclude, they are both nice and multi-purpose brushes, perhaps the Real techniques would be better for those who need a more-in-one brush because is slightly more versatile. On the other side, the EcoTools brush is fantastic, if you search a special brush for your base (such as liquid, creamy foundations/BB/CC creams,…).

Real Techniques Miracle complexion sponge review

And lastly, the makeup sponge; In general I’m not a fan of sponges, but since there are so many trending on the market I wanted to give this one a try after seeing their very convincing video on how to use this sponge in so many ways!

Oh, yes, sometimes I’m attracted by US marketing promises as well 😀 haha. Anyway, as you can see there are many ways to use this sponge and I don’t disapprove it at all. I have tried it and yes it works well, it’s just that I can’t get used to sponges because I have the attitude to wash the sponge every time I use it. Not only for hygienically reasons but also not to melt many left colours/products together that remain on the sponge. And when it comes to wash it, the color still remains on quite a lot. (I wash it with Dr.Bronner’s soap and hot water as always). For the entire application I prefer brushes, but for me the sponge is great for blending everything together, for the final touch. So it’s your choice, I’d say. The sponge it’s definitely a nice and handy product that does the job well.

Have you tried this sponge? Do you like it? And the other products from the review – what do you think?
